Rest-of-Season Projections
Subject to waivers
The Cardinals waived Brown on Wednesday, Scott Bordow of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown will now seek his third team of the year, as he played six games with the Eagles before being cut and signing with the Cardinals, where he was a healthy scratch in every contest. The 2012 second-round pick nearly recorded his third consecutive 100-tackle campaign when he posted 96 stops for the Redskins last year, so he could play a role wherever he lands.

After middle linebacker Jordan Hicks walked in free agency, the Eagles didn't address the position in the draft and shortly thereafter signed Brown to a modest one-year contract. Brown brings experience from three previous stops, but health concerns have slowed him at times as a pro, resulting in 18 DNPs across seven seasons. In Philadelphia, he won't have much competition for a leading role, with L.J. Fort and Paul Worrilow the primary challengers. Overall, Brown has averaged 6.7 tackles per game while adding 17.5 sacks, seven interceptions, six forced fumbles and two defensive TDs in 94 appearances. As the upcoming campaign approaches, the primary question mark surrounding Brown is the torn oblique he gutted through last season. If 100 percent, he'll have as good of a chance as any Eagles IDP to remain relevant from week to week.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Comments lead to release?
Brown, who was released by the Eagles on Monday, may have partly prompted that decision with his critical comments about Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins ahead of Sunday's Week 6 loss to Minnesota, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Providing the opposition with extra motivation through a little trash talk certainly isn't the most common reason for getting released in the NFL, but it may have had at least a part to play in Brown's case. After all, the veteran linebacker had 31 tackles, including two for loss, and two defensed passes through Philadelphia's first six games and was a cost-effective addition on a one-year, $3 million contract this offseason. Brown had logged over 50 snaps in four of his six contests as well, so the team clearly had a certain level of trust in him as recently as Sunday. However, with Cousins throwing for four touchdowns against the Eagles after Brown, his former teammate with the Redskins, had criticized him as a weak link of Minnesota's offense, the team may have been prompted to move on.
