"It's devastating, because he lost part of his left leg," Tuberville said Wednesday of Pead, while speaking on his weekly radio show. "He'll never play again, obviously. It's just devastating." Pead -- who played his college football at Cincinnati before being drafted by the Rams in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft -- played in three games with the Dolphins this season prior to being released by the team.

The Dolphins added to their running back depth over the offseason by signing Pead. In his last three seasons with St. Louis, he only rushed the ball 19 times, so his outlook with Miami is somewhat unclear. His best-case scenario will likely be the backup behind Jay Ajayi, but he would have to beat out two other backs in Damien Williams and Daniel Thomas, along with rookie Kenyan Drake. The odds are stacked against Pead being a significant contributor this season.
