House announced Tuesday that he has elected to retire from the NFL.
ANALYSIS
A 2011 fourth-round pick, House spent the first six seasons of his career in Green Bay before moving on to the Jaguars for two years. After sitting out the entire 2019 season, the New Mexico State product has decided to call it quits, formally retiring as a member of the Packers. He'll finish his playing days with seven interceptions and two forced fumbles to his name.

House played well last year after returning to the Packers following a two-year stint in Jacksonville, piling up 44 combined tackles despite being limited to just 12 games. The Packers brought him back for another season, and he is a favorite to start in Week 1 after doing so in every game he appeared in a year ago. He will have to continue playing well though in order to hold off talented youngsters Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson, the Packers' top two picks in this year's draft.
The former Packer returned to Green Bay during the offseason. He is a favorite to head into the year as a starter and will also be counted on to mentor the youthful group of cornerbacks also on the roster. House totaled just 17 tackles and no interceptions last year and averaged just over two tackles per game in his last year in Green Bay, so he may struggle to make much of a fantasy impact even if he does play a key role.
An incumbent starter at corner, House will face stiff competition for snaps from rookie Jalen Ramsey and free agent addition Prince Amukamara. A three-cornerback system is likely to emerge, assuming Jacksonville doesn’t opt to play Ramsey at safety.
Signed away from Green Bay as a free agent this offseason, House will step in as the Jaguars' projected No. 1 cornerback.
House, who missed 21 games over his first two NFL seasons, was able to stay healthy all of last year, when he accounted for 44 tackles (36 solo) and one interception. With teammate Casey Hayward being bit by the injury bug in 2013, House often served as Green Bay's preferred third cornerback. However, with Hayward healthy at press time, both he and House will compete for slotting behind Sam Shields and Tramon Williams this season.
House will serve as a primary back-up at cornerback to Tramon Williams and Sam Shields. He impressed in nine games last season and started five. He could eventually push for increased time at the position in training camp.
House will provide depth for the Packers at cornerback.
