Stephen Paea

Paea missed three games due to injury in 2013, but he was a picture of health compared to many of his mates at the defensive tackle spot, an area that developed into a major weakness as the season wore on. As the nose tackle, Paea bears some culpability for the team's immense struggles against the run, and he may no longer be guaranteed a starting role heading into 2014 as a result. The Bears spent high draft choices on Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton, meaning Paea, who has shown brief glimpses of effectiveness during his four NFL seasons, may need a strong training camp to maintain his spot atop the depth chart.

Paea made some positive progress in his second season as a space clogger in the middle of the defensive line. While his light tackle and sack totals make him far from a viable IDP option, he should allow the rest of his linemates to remain productive.

After essentially being red-shirted last season, look for Paea to make a much bigger impact. He's snaps increased every game in the second half of the year, and with the Bears being big proponents of rotating tackles during the game, a break out season could be in the making.

The Bears traded up in the second round to select the bench press monster, in hopes that he could contribute right away. He may not start, but Paea will be a great addition to the Bears' defensive tackle rotation in 2011.
