Announces retirement
Green announced his retirement via Instagram on Monday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Green was drafted by the Bengals with the No. 4 overall pick in 2011 and spent 10 seasons with Cincinnati before joining the Cardinals. In his first campaign with Arizona (2021), he finished with 54 receptions on 92 targets for 848 yards and three scores, his best season since 2017. However, he struggled to make much of an impact in 2022 and has decided to hang up the cleats with Arizona's future unclear due to coach Kliff Kingsbury's firing and Kyler Murray's ACL rehab. Green, a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro, finishes his 12-year career with 727 receptions, 10,514 yards and 70 touchdowns.

Green didn’t exactly find the fountain of youth in his first season with the Cardinals, but he did
find a starting job and a decent contract, and somewhat redeemed himself after posting some of
the worst efficiency stats of any NFL receiver his final season in Cincinnati. The 34-year-old is
back in the desert for Round 2, again on a one-year contract, presumably opening the season
as a starter after Christian Kirk signed with the Jaguars and DeAndre Hopkins was suspended
six games. Beyond that, Green is in danger of sliding to the bench, with Hopkins, Marquise
Brown and potentially 2021 second-round pick Rondale Moore ahead of him. While there’s not
much upside, Green has some short-term value for deep formats.
