Taylor Price

Price is an intriguing WR prospect with his combination of size and speed, but the odds may not be in his favor for making the final 53 in Jacksonville. With the offseason addition of Justin Blackmon and Laurent Robinson, Price will compete primarily with Lee Evans, Cecil Shorts, Chastin West, and Brian Robiskie for the remaining three or four roster spots. Price only played in two games with the Jags (two catches for 39 yards) before suffering an injury, so he'll have to turn in an outstanding training camp performance if he wants to lock up a roster spot.

As a rookie, the third-rounder caught just three passes for 41 yards and that was in Week 17 when the Patriots rested key players. It's easy enough to dismiss Price after his quiet entry into the NFL, but he does have a nice blend of size and speed and he's in a situation where he can be groomed patiently, giving him some upside down the road. His is a name worth knowing as a very deep sleeper, but injuries would need to hit the Patriots hard for him to be a reliable fantasy contributor in 2011.

Price has some folks ahead of him (among others, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Torry Holt and Julian Edelman) on the Patriots' wideout depth chart, but he has a nice blend of size and speed, and, according to reports this spring has looked good coming out of his breaks while displaying good hands and body control. The team can afford to groom Price slowly, but there are some raw skills to be worked with here and in time, the 2010 third-rounder has sleeper potential.
