Carr came over to the Ravens last season and earned his keep opposite Jimmy Smith. He lived up to his billing as a steady and durable presence on the outside, racking up 56 tackles, 12 passes defensed and four picks while playing the most snaps among Baltimore corners. That performance made it a no-brainer for Baltimore to pick up his 2018 option, especially considering Jimmy Smith's injury history. As long as Carr keeps up his base level of play, there's little reason to believe he can't continue his streak as a 16-game player who is good for 50-plus tackles. It is important to note that regression is a possibility for Carr, who is entering his 11th season at age 32 at a position where even a half-step loss of speed can be catastrophic.
The former Cowboy was one of several pieces brought in by the Ravens to shore up the secondary. Durability is Carr's calling card, which is a welcome trait in a Ravens secondary that has been bit by the injury bug in years past (read: Jimmy Smith). Carr has played 16 games in each of his nine professional seasons, and though he's not a ball hawk (1 INT over last three seasons), Carr has solid coverage skills and is a reliable tackler. It's worth noting that the Ravens spent a first-round pick on Alabama cornerback Marlon Humphrey, but he's unlikely to push Carr out of a starting spot on the outside given the Ravens' financial obligation to Carr, coupled with Humphrey's expected learning curve in terms of adjusting to covering opponents without grabbing as much as he did in college. With that, look for Carr to be a staple in the secondary opposite Jimmy Smith that can add value with a high tackle count for a defensive back.
The veteran cornerback recorded a career-high 76 tackles last season, but for the second straight year he failed to produce an interception and his six passes defended tied his career low. Carr agreed to a pay cut in the offseason and as a result he'll return to a starting role with the Cowboys, but if he isn't able to rebound he could find himself losing snaps in the team's base defense to Mo Claiborne or another younger CB option.
Carr's third season in Dallas was a disappointment, and while he started all 16 games he failed to record an interception for the first time in his seven-year career. His cap hit all but ensures he'll return in 2015, but if Carr's performance doesn't rebound it could be his last season with the Cowboys.
Starting CB had the best statistical season of his career in 2013, recording 71 tackles and three INTs (including one returned for a touchdown). At 28, and heading into his seventh season in the NFL, Carr should still be effective but the Cowboys' version of the Cover-2 defense typically doesn't allow cornerbacks to put up huge IDP numbers.
Carr had a solid first season in Dallas, recording 53 tackles and three INTs, including his first career return for a touchdown. He won't make a big IDP impact, but he's an important part of the Cowboys' team defense.
Carr joins the Cowboys secondary on a big free agent deal after a career-high four INTs, with a career-low 45 tackles, with the Chiefs in 2011. He immediately became Dallas' best cornerback and as such could face some tough matchups in the NFC East. While he likely won't register big IDP numbers he should help stabilize the back end of the DAL team defense.
As a starting cornerback, Carr's tackle totals have declined each of his three seasons. Combine that fact with his lack of playmaking and that equals a low-end IDP with minimal upside.
Carr jumped straight from Division II Grand Valley State to a spot atop the Chiefs' depth chart and has started all 32 games since being drafted in 2008. His 62 tackles, 19 passes defended and one interception last season were enough to make him a top-30 fantasy cornerback, and he'll likely land in that range again in 2010.
Carr made the transition from Division II Grand Valley State about as well as anybody with the Chiefs could have expected last season. He started all 16 games and finished with 73 tackles, emerging as a useful IDP in leagues that require cornerbacks. He should have similar value in 2009, although there is some concern that his tackle totals will suffer in new defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast's system.

Benefits from practice squad rules
CBFree Agent
September 6, 2020
Carr, who the Cowboys signed to their practice squad Sunday, is a beneficiary of the unique rules pertaining to that unit for the 2020 season, Adam Maya of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Teams are allowed to keep up to 16 players on their practice squad this season, including six that have an unlimited number of accrued seasons in the NFL. Carr, who enters his 13th season in 2020, fits the bill, and his return reunites him with the franchise he played for from 2012 through 2016. The 34-year-old had been a free agent since the Ravens declined his option in March, but he'll now be available as veteran insurance at a key position for a presumptive Super Bowl contender.
