The Cowboys released Carr on Tuesday, Nick Eatman of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Carr played three games with the Cowboys this season, logging a combined 21 defensive snaps and one solo tackle. The 34-year-old cornerback may not have much left in the tank, but he could add veteran depth for another secondary.

Carr came over to the Ravens last season and earned his keep opposite Jimmy Smith. He lived up to his billing as a steady and durable presence on the outside, racking up 56 tackles, 12 passes defensed and four picks while playing the most snaps among Baltimore corners. That performance made it a no-brainer for Baltimore to pick up his 2018 option, especially considering Jimmy Smith's injury history. As long as Carr keeps up his base level of play, there's little reason to believe he can't continue his streak as a 16-game player who is good for 50-plus tackles. It is important to note that regression is a possibility for Carr, who is entering his 11th season at age 32 at a position where even a half-step loss of speed can be catastrophic.

Benefits from practice squad rules
Carr, who the Cowboys signed to their practice squad Sunday, is a beneficiary of the unique rules pertaining to that unit for the 2020 season, Adam Maya of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Teams are allowed to keep up to 16 players on their practice squad this season, including six that have an unlimited number of accrued seasons in the NFL. Carr, who enters his 13th season in 2020, fits the bill, and his return reunites him with the franchise he played for from 2012 through 2016. The 34-year-old had been a free agent since the Ravens declined his option in March, but he'll now be available as veteran insurance at a key position for a presumptive Super Bowl contender.
