It can thus be assumed that Spears is retiring from the NFL after playing for nine seasons. He spent eight of his nine years with the Cowboys and started 90 games, but he never offered much IDP value.

Spears is a respected veteran around the league, but there's nothing exciting about his game. The Ravens are hoping that he can be a solid depth piece along the defensive line, with the potential to fill in capably if a starter goes down. Spears has 226 tackles and 10 sacks in 119 career games.
Spears lost his starting job on the defensive line last season, and could be on his way out of town entirely if he can't step up his game.
Spears has never had the stats to match his first round pedigree, but he's a dependable run-stuffer who returns to Dallas to help anchor their defensive line.
Spears continues to hold onto a starting spot on the defensive line, but he's never lived up to his first round pick status.
Recorded 30 tackles and two sacks as an important cog in the Cowboys' DE rotation.
Spears recorded 45 tackles but only one sack in 2006, and he's one of a number of Cowboys who will try to turn talent into production in the team's new defensive scheme.
Spears put together a solid rookie season at DT after recovering from a preseason knee injury, and is an important part of the Cowboys' 3-4 defensive front.
20th overall pick will miss most of camp due to a knee injury, but should emerge as a starter at DE before the season is out. An interesting sleeper in IDP leagues, as he could rack up both tackles and sacks in the 3-4.
