While Williams isn't much of a fantasy option at defensive tackle, he's a key run stuffer in Minnesota's defense and forms the "Williams Wall" with Kevin Williams. He'll turn 38 this season, so keeping him healthy is a big key to the Minnesota team defense.
Pat Williams is the part of the "Williams Wall" that's primarily a run stuffer. As a result, his real football value doesn't translate as well into fantasy with just 44 tackles and one sack last season. He and Kevin Williams still face a possible four-game suspension for using a banned substance that's making it's way through the legal process this summer.
Williams is a great asset to the Vikings, clogging up the middle of the defensive line as one of the game's best run-stuffers. Unfortunately, his game does not translate to IDP leagues and has no fantasy value, as he will not post much more than one or two sacks.
Starting defensive tackle. His ability to stop the run is perhaps the key component to the Minnesota defense. He doesn't get enough sacks or tackles for most fantasy leagues, however.
Williams is a run-stuffing specialist, who doesn't put up big stats but is regarded as one of the best defensive tackles.
Starting nose tackle who should take pressure off Kevin Williams and improve Minnesota's defense against the run.
Williams is one of the best at what he does -- clogging the heck out of the line -- but his value makes everyone else better and he never has a stat line to speak of. If your league forces you to go deep at DT, Williams is a good tackler with 81 and 83 combined in his last two seasons, but sacks and interceptions almost never happen in his role.
