Baker signed with the Redskins, the Carroll County Times reports.
ANALYSIS
With Chris Cooley on injured reserve and Fred Davis suspended for the rest of the season, Baker has a chance (albeit a small one) to be a sleeper for deep-league owners desperate for a tight end. He's probably best left on waivers though.

Baker was acquired in the offseason for his blocking skills at the tight end spot. If John Carlson goes down with an injury, Baker could pick up the receiving slack. Otherwise, he's a blocker first.
Baker comes over from the Jets to join a TE corps that also includes Benjamin Watson, Alex Smith and David Thomas. He has some upside as a pass-catcher and could emerge as a fantasy sleeper if he clicks with QB Tom Brady, who likes to look to his tight ends in the red zone. Given the depth the team has at the position however, it may be a few weeks into the season before it is clear which Patriots' TE is the one to own.
Baker had a career-high 41 catches for 409 yards and three touchdowns, while being one of the position's top targets inside the 20-, 10- and 5-yard lines. Unfortunately, that might be the peak for Baker; the Jets drafted H-back Dustin Keller in the first round and added veteran TE Bubba Franks through free agency. Baker isn't to happy about the developments; he blew off some team activities in May and June and was trying to get his contract redone. The Jets, holding the cards here, balked at the move. Stay tuned - and don't worry about Baker in 2008, except if you're caught in a bye-week pinch.
The Jets were among the bottom third of the league in tight end usage, and that won’t change in 2007. Baker is the best they’ve got, but the position as a whole caught just 37 balls (tied 26th in NFL) in 2006, three catches less than the average league starter. The Jets targeted their tight ends just eight times in the red zone. One thing that keeps Baker's value down - he's normally forced to block on passing downs, as the Jets max protext more than most teams, given that Chad Pennington has absolutely no mobility in the pocket.
Baker showed some receiving skills in the early part of 2005, then got hurt and missed the final two months. He's considered a decent blocker,a double-edged sword: it keeps him on the field, but mucked down in the trenches.
Baker has been named the starter ahead of Doug Jolley, primarily because of his blocking abilities. But he should also see some passes thrown his way in Mike Heimerdinger's new offense.
Caught 14 passes in 2003 for 137 yards in 2003. The team likes Baker an will try to get him more touches this season, but his fantasy value is limited as long as Anthony Becht and Mikhael Ricks are around.
Backs up Anthony Becht at tight end -- for now. Baker only caught two passes for 14 yards in 2002, but his coaches love him and he could emerge from the deep sleeper ranks at some point this season. At the very least, he'll get more touches than last year.
