Lito Sheppard

Sheppard will start at right cornerback opposite Darrelle Revis in New York after getting squeezed out of playing time with the Eagles last season. The Jets are hoping he can parlay his versatility and ability to play man coverage into a return to the form he displayed earlier in his tenure in Philly.

In his first season as a starting cornerback in 2004, Lito Sheppard could not have scripted a better story for himself. After earning first team All-Pro honors, a starting spot on the NFC Pro Bowl squad, and a lucrative contract extension through 2011, Sheppard played a major role in helping the Eagles to their first NFC Championship crown since 1980 and a Super Bowl played in his hometown of Jacksonville, FL. Brown will look to build upon a great 2004 season by gaining valuable experience each and every day playing next to Brian Dawkins and Michael Lewis.

With the free agent departure of pro bowlers Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent, the Eagles will start Sheppard and the cornerback position. Sheppard gained valuable experience in 2003 while Taylor and Vincent were injured, but he will have big shoes to fill in 2004 as a full-time starter.

Sheppard, the Eagles' first round pick in 2002, will back up right CB, Bobby Taylor. He didn't see much playing time last year but now that he has a better feel for the defense he will compete with Sheldon Brown for the nickel position.
