August 31, 2018
Jones rushed nine times for 54 yards and caught all four of his targets for 24 more yards in Thursday's preseason win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
He managed not to fumble in this one, at least. It was Jones' best effort of the preseason, although he is still considered a longshot to make the 53-man roster leading up to the Eagles' Week 1 matchup at Atlanta. Jay Ajayi's slow progress in recovering from a lower-body injury may help the fourth-year vet's case to make the team, but even so, he is still believed to be behind Wendell Smallwood and rookie Josh Adams for a spot behind Corey Clement and Darren Sproles. Therefore, he has minimal fantasy value at the moment.

The Colts became the second NFL franchise to cut ties with Jones in May, and the Eagles scooped him up on a two-year deal. He will have to battle third-year Eagle Wendell Smallwood, 2017 draftee Donnell Pumphrey and undrafted rookie Josh Adams for what will most likely be only one active roster spot.
A year ago, Jones appeared to be the back of the future in D.C., heading into the season as the clear-cut starter. However, fumbling issues and inconsistent play resulted in Jones' benching in Week 8. He spent the remainder of the season as a healthy inactive, failing to record another rep on offense. After being let go by Washington, Jones will get a fresh start with the Colts, where he joins the backup mix behind veteran Frank Gore.
Summertime hero, fall time zero. Jones racked up seven yards a carry during the preseason, but stumbled to a 3.4 YPC in the real games. Just as worrisome, he caught a case of fumblitis. Five of his 163 touches hit the turf. A hip injury cost him the final three games. Nonetheless, the Redskins believe in Jones, and essentially promoted him in the offseason. Alfred Morris is gone, and the only back the team selected in the draft was a fifth-round pick, Keith Marshall out of Georgia. Holdover Chris Thompson could lead this backfield in catches, but Jones has the best chance at being the bell cow, and a primary back in a Jay Gruden offense could be a lucrative thing. Give Jones an intensive scouting look during the summer. (And make sure Washington doesn't add a major free agent; if Arian Foster, say, were to come to DC, Jones' rank would need a major downward adjustment.)
The Redskins added Jones in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, adding depth in the backfield behind Alfred Morris. Standing at 6-foot-2, 231 pounds, the rookie back has the makeup of a power back, but with a bit of added height over most of the running backs he’ll compete against. In his senior season at Florida, Jones totaled 817 yards on the ground with six rushing touchdowns, but didn’t provide much as a receiver out of the backfield. While Alfred Morris sits entrenched as the starter, a strong training camp could earn Jones an opportunity as the backup.

Eyeing NFL comeback
RBFree Agent
July 30, 2020
Jones is hoping to return to the NFL and has had contact with some teams, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jones' most recent football action came as a mid-season All-XFL team member with the St. Louis Battlehawks, though he hasn't handled a regular-season snap in the NFL since 2017. He appeared in 25 games (seven starts) in the league from 2015-17, logging stints with Washington and Indianapolis. The 27-year-old could garner some attention if in-season depth becomes an issue for teams.
