Derek Cox

Once a solid starter for the Jaguars, Cox was a massive disappointment for the Chargers last season, after inking a four-year, $20 million deal in the offseason. Given his resume and 6-foot-1 frame, Cox could rebound on a team that desperately needs help in the secondary.

Cox had 60 tackles and four interceptions in 12 games with the Jaguars last season and will move right into a starting cornerback gig in the Chargers' defense.

Cox looked poised to break out onto the scene as a premiere corner after a brilliant Monday night performance against Joe Flacco and the Ravens, but saw his season cut short due to injuries. The little-known corner out of William & Mary has elevated his game over the past two seasons and has been a huge part of the team's resurgence in the secondary. If Cox is able to stay healthy in 2012, expect his name to begin floating around as a top corner IDP option.

Cox grabbed four interceptions in his 2009 rookie year, and could be a player on the verge for 2010. With Rashean Mathis' skills in serious decline, Cox may quickly become the linchpin of the Jags' defensive backfield, especially if he improves his ballhawking skills.
