Dixon has been released by the Bills, as the team pared down the roster ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
ANALYSIS
The team isn't happy with its quarterback situation behind EJ Manuel, and Dixon had a very small window the past few weeks to step up to the No. 3 spot. However, Dixon had problems holding onto the football Saturday against Tampa Bay, and with that, may have flubbed away his final chance to make the team.

Dixon is considered a long shot to make the team as the third quarterback, but even if he does his value for fantasy will be extremely limited. UPDATE: Dixon was released by the Bills in August of 2014.
Released by the Eagles in August of 2013.
Dixon started one game for Pittsburgh in 2009, an overtime loss to the Ravens. He played relatively well against one of the more formidable defenses in the league, recording two total touchdowns (one rushing). Unfortunately, the suspension of Ben Roethlisberger affected his standing with the team for 2010. Prior to the suspension, Dixon would have secured the primary backup quarterback role. However, the Steelers brought back Byron Leftwich to hold the fort until the suspension is served, knocking Dixon down a peg to third on the depth chart.
Dixon will battle Charlie Batch for the right to be primary backup to Ben Roethlisberger. Batch might have the inside track due to experience, but Dixon impressed the coaching staff at the spring mini-camp and could leapfrog Batch. His athleticism could come in handy on gadget plays.
It's unlikely that the Steelers would trust Dixon enough where he'd jump Charlie Batch as Ben Roethlisberger's backup at any point in 2008. The ultra-athletic QB could, however, be used occasionally in an offense that loves to utilize trick plays.
