Cody was released from the hospital Thursday after undergoing surgery for a lumbar disc herniation, Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Cody, an eight-year veteran, underwent the surgery Jan. 29. He started 12 of the 13 games he played in last season. His contract is set to expire during the offseason, so it has yet to be seen if he will return to the Texans for next season.

Cody should be front and center for the Texans, playing nose tackle in the team's 3-4 base defense. He's started every game for the last two seasons, though there aren't many stats to show for that.
Cody should compete for snaps at nose guard along with Earl Mitchell. Amobi Okoye, a salary cap cut in the first days after the lockout, has opened up an opportunity for any D-tackle who shows an ability to tie up blockers.
Cody is one of many vying for snaps at defensive tackle. He started 13 games last season and should start training camp as the favorite, but this has been an unsettled position in recent seasons.
With Travis Johnson's health causing him to miss time at the organized team activities, and ticking off coach Gary Kubiak, Cody could be in line for a regular part of the rotation at defensive tackle.
Cody will backup the Lions' interior lineman.
Will be part of a rotation at defensive tackle behind Shaun Rogers and Cory Redding in what could be a loaded position for the Lions.
Starting defensive tackle. His speed and athleticism make him a great fit for the new Cover Two defense, which uses a good amount of stunts. Cody didn't have much chance last year with Dan Wilkinson ahead of him, but with Big Daddy gone, the USC product has a chance to put himself on the map.
Cody was a standout during his days with the Trojans. He should produce as a rookie, as he will make up a very formidable defensive tackle rotation along with Dan Wilkinson and Shaun Rogers as part of a strong front four.
