Steinbach is retiring from the NFL, the Dolphins' official Twitter account reports.

ANALYSIS
Steinbach's retirement stems from back problems that have plagued him over the course of his career. After signing a lucrative contract with the Browns in 2007, the former Iowa Hawkeye made the Pro Bowl the following year, before being cut by the team earlier this year due to persistent back injuries that cost him all of the 2011 season. The Dolphins took a chance on the guard in training camp this season, but it seems that both sides have agreed to call it quits, ending Steinbach's career.
