Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Player X vs. Player Y?" without any other mitigating factors. Of course, I welcome debate - if you think I'm wrong, let me know. But please check out the rankings first before asking your start/sit question. This truly reflects my opinion in my leagues.

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on Tuesday nights. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning. I will post at the top of the article in bold font when ranking updates are in progress and when they're complete.

I welcome debate on the rankings in the comments. Please keep it friendly.

Quarterbacks

14.	Trey Lance SF vs. HOU Note: I'm operating under the assumption that Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) is not going to play, and that Lance will get another start. Garoppolo is listed as doubtful and Nate Sudfeld has been activated from the practice squad, so it's very likely that Lance will start.*

17.	*Davis Mills HOU at SF Note: Mills played a really clean game (21-27-254-2-0) in the win over the Chargers and has a reasonable matchup against the Niners' corners this week.

19.	Ben Roethlisberger PIT vs. CLE Note: Roethlisberger had a maintenance day Thursday but had a full practice Friday.*
20.	Derek Carr LV at IND Note: Carr is dealing with sore ribs suffered in the win over the Broncos. Carr was a full participant in practice all week.*

22.	Baker Mayfield CLE at PIT Note: Mayfield has been playing with a harness on his injured left shoulder, and that's affected his play.*
23.	Carson Wentz IND vs. LV Note: Wentz tested positive for COVID-19 and under the current NFL rules must quarantine for 10 days, ruling him out for this week. There's a chance that those rules could change later on Tuesday, stay tuned. Coach Frank Reich said Friday that Wentz is 'making progress' throughout the week, and he's prepared for both Wentz and Ehrlinger to start. Wentz has been cleared from the COVID-IR and will start against the Raiders.*
24.	Andy Dalton CHI vs. NYG Note: Dalton has been named the starter for this week.*
25.	Drew Lock DEN at LAC Note: Teddy Bridgewater has been ruled out again, so Lock will get another start.*
26.	Sean Mannion MIN at GB Note: Mannion is getting the start after Kirk Cousins tested positive for COVID-19. Kellen Mond will be the backup.*

28.	*Taylor Heinicke WAS vs. PHI Note: Kyle Allen will not start in Week 17, but he will get some playing time during the game at some point.

36.	Lamar Jackson BAL vs. LAR Note: There's a chance that Jackson (ankle) could return to practice on Wednesday. Once again, I'll move him up if/when that happens. Jackson didn't practice Thursday or Friday after limping noticeably in Wednesday's practice, but is still listed as questionable. Coach John Harbaugh said that Jackson 'has a chance to play.' OFFICIALLY INACTIVE.*
37.	Nick Foles CHI vs. NYG Note: Foles will back up Andy Dalton this week.*
38.	*Josh Johnson BAL vs. LAR Note: Johnson wasn't the problem for the Ravens on Sunday, but I'm presuming either Jackson or Huntley will be able to play this week. But until either one of them practices, I'll still rank Johnson.
39.	Sam Ehlinger IND vs. LV Note: Ehrlinger might be in line for his first NFL start Sunday, though there's a possibility that a change in the NFL's COVID protocol rules could allow Carson Wentz to play this week. Carson Wentz has cleared the COVID-IR and will start.*
40.	Jimmy Garoppolo SF vs. HOU Note: Garoppolo sustained a UCL tear and fractured in his right thumb in the Thursday loss to the Titans. I don't think he'll play this week, but I'll move him back up accordingly if that changes. Garoppolo is listed as doubtful. The Niners are hopeful he can go in Week 18.*
41.	Jared Goff DET at SEA Note: Goff cleared the COVID-IR on Monday and will step back into the starting role. Not so fast - Goff is listed as doubtful due to a knee injury. It looks as if Tim Boyle will start.*
42.	Justin Fields CHI vs. NYG Note: Fields (ankle) was inactive last week while Nick Foles got the start. Fields is officially listed as questionable, but he's not expected to be available.*
