Done in 2022 with unspecified issue
Head coach Ricky Rahne said Monday that Kuntz won't return during the 2022-23 season as a result of season-ending surgery, Marc Davis of WTKR News 3 reports.
ANALYSIS
Kuntz had missed each of Old Dominion's previous three games due to an undisclosed injury, but coach Rahne announced Monday that the 251-pounder will finally undergo season-ending surgery to address the issue. In five games played in 2022, Kuntz corralled 12 receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns in that span. In his absence, Donta Anthony and Isaiah Spencer are slated to handle the majority of tight end snaps for the Monarchs for the rest of the campaign.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Old Dominion’s return to action in 2021 may not have been on everyone’s radar but for fantasy players, Kuntz’s emergence made the community take notice. He caught 73 of 111 targets and scored five touchdowns. The efficiency was less than ideal at 6.2 YPT, but that type of volume is hard to find among tight ends. Kuntz and receiver Ali Jennings accounted for 50 percent of Old Dominion’s target share in 2021 and that projects to be the case again this season. Kuntz lacks high yardage upside but his target share and red zone ability give him an extremely high floor.
