Switches to tight end
Florida State moved Rector from quarterback to tight end during the spring, Brendan Sonnone of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rector, who served as a reserve quarterback for Western Michigan in 2018 before sitting out the 2019 season after transferring to Florida State, likely would have found himself no higher than fifth on the depth chart had he remained under center in 2020. He'll have a clearer path to reps at tight end after Tre' McKitty transferred to Georgia and Gabe Nabers exhausted his eligibility, but Rector is still realistically vying for limited snaps behind more experienced options at the position in Camren McDonald and UCLA graduate transfer Jordan Wilson.
