Officially bound for draft
January 15, 2021
Etienne announced via his personal Twitter account that he will close the door on his Clemson career and enter the 2021 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Etienne's decision to return to Clemson for his senior season in 2020 had already been viewed by some as a surprise, so his decision to forgo a fifth and final year of eligibility was fully expected. The running back ends his decorated Clemson career with 4,952 rushing yards and 70 touchdowns to go with 1,155 receiving yards and another eight scores. He could be one of the first backs off the board in April's draft.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2020
2019
2018
Etienne's surprise return for his senior season allows him to be amongst the nation's top backs for a third straight year. He's surpassed 1,600 yards in each of the past two seasons, scoring 43 times in that span. His 207 carries in 2019 were a personal best, and while 13.8 totes per game is a smaller number than most other workhorse backs, Etienne's elite speed leads to big play after big play. Etienne emerged as a viable receiver last year as well, snagging 37 balls for 432 yards and four scores after combining for 17-135-2, and figures to see consistent targets with the Tigers' using an inexperienced receiving group. A known commodity, Etienne profiles as one the best, and safest, running backs in the country.
The Heisman candidate led the nation in rushing touchdowns with 24 last season and had the second-highest YPC of any back with at least 150 carries. There’s little reason to expect much of a decline in 2019, either. Clemson’s passing attack will prevent Etienne from facing loaded fronts, not that Etienne needs much help anyway. The only concern with Etienne is workload; he ranked 75th in attempts per game and could see limited usage late in games this season if Clemson dominates as anticipated. Even if that holds true, Etienne will still be the top big-play threat in the nation.
What Etienne did on just 107 carries as a freshman is remarkable. He averaged 7.16 yards per carry and racked up 13 touchdowns, which matched what Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor posted with 192 more carries. This isn't a knock against Taylor as much as it is a credit to Etienne's explosiveness. He may well be the fastest running back in the nation and has the build to hold up with an increased workload. Clemson's backfield depth does put a cap on Etienne's expected volume, but his talent makes him worth targeting nonetheless.
