Georgia: Todd Gurley Will Declare for NFL Draft
Knee
December 26, 2014
Gurley will declare for the 2015 NFL Draft, his head coach Mark Richt confirmed to Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph.
ANALYSIS
This is one of the least surprising declarations for the Draft we will see, as it would have taken a visit from three Georgia-loving ghosts to get Gurley to stay after a miserable junior year. Gurley started 2014 as the top running back in the mock drafts, but could now fall to the second round after tearing his ACL against Auburn. Richt said Gurley's rehab is "going beautifully," so the running back's physical at the combine could make or break his prospects as a first round pick.

2013
Perhaps no running back in the nation poses a more intimidating combination of size and speed than Gurley. At 6-1, 232, Gurley has the size and strength to pummel even SEC defenses and the burst and speed of a runner 30 pounds lighter. He even established himself as one of the nation's elite receiving threats last year, making his all-around game impeccable. Although an ankle sprain robbed him of more than three games last season, he still totaled 989 yards (6.0 YPC) and 10 touchdowns on the ground with 37 catches for 441 yards (11.9 YPC) and six more scores. He should get leaned on even more this season as Georgia breaks in a new quarterback.
Gurley is quite possibly the most talented running back in the country. Although he's built like a tank at 6-foot-1, 232 pounds, Gurley possesses excellent flexibility and balance and has the athleticism to go the distance on every play. It certainly doesn't hurt that he also displays excellent vision. Although he'll lose about 10 carries per game to fellow top talent Keith Marshall, Gurley is the clear goal-line back for a high-powered Georgia offense that returns its entire starting offensive line. Gurley's 1,385-yard, 17-touchdown rushing debut probably is his floor in 2013.
