2024 Fantasy Outlook
In 2023, Stone replaced highly-productive two-year starter Tanner Mordecai and proceeded to put up excellent numbers in head coach Sonny Dykes' explosive offense. The gunslinger amassed 3,197 yards and 28 touchdowns to just six interceptions, adding on four scores on the ground for good measure. Entering his senior season, Stone could absolutely explode this fall. His top six pass-catchers all return, as do the top three halfbacks on the team. This is an offense loaded with talent and experience, and Stone is the engine that makes it run. Look for him to consistently post huge outings for what figures to be one of the best offenses in the ACC. Read Past Outlooks
Leaving SMU
Stone will enter the transfer portal, Pete Nakos of On3.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stone will enter the portal after getting surpassed by the dynamic Kevin Jennings at quarterback for SMU this season. It was a surprising turn of events, considering Stone was coming off an excellent season in which he threw for 3,197 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions. Still, the SMU coaching staff favored Jennings' decision-making and dual threat ability, leaving Stone with the backup gig. Now, the gunslinger will seek a new home, but will reportedly stay with the Mustangs through the College Football Playoff.
