Patterson is the fourth Virginia Tech receiver in less than a week to enter the transfer portal, joining Damon Hazelton, Jacoby Pinckney and Hezekiah Grimsley. Hazelton is the clear standout of the group, as the other three combined for 16 catches for 242 yards and three touchdowns in 2019, with Patterson nabbing six of those receptions. It's unclear whether Patterson, a rising redshirt senior, has already secured a degree, leaving his availability for the 2020 season uncertain if he moves on to another FBS school. He'll still have the option to return to Virginia Tech this fall if his other alternatives aren't appealing.
