Will not play tight end
Jurkovec will not play tight end in 2023, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Contrary to Hiles' previous report about Jurkovec, he will continue serving as a quarterback rather than tight end. However, what is for certain is that Jurkovec will be a backup Saturday against Louisville, as Christian Veilleux earned the starting nod for that game.

After completing 61 percent of his passes for 2,558 yards 17 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 2020, Jurkovec started the 2021 season with his eyes on the NFL Draft. Unfortunately, in week 2 Jurkovic suffered a hand injury that required surgery. Jurkovec surprisingly returned for the last four games of the 2021 season in which he completed just 48.5 percent of his passes for 589 yards with 4 touchdowns and four interceptions. In 2022 Jurkovec will have familiar faces around him, as leading receiver Zay Flowers and former Ohio State transfer Jaelen Gill are both returning for their senior and redshirt season respectively. Another key piece returning is star running back Pat Garwo. Garwo ran for over 1,000 yards with an average of 5.1 yards per carry in 2021 and was the main source of offense in the absence of Jurkovec. Having Garwo in the backfield will help keep defenses honest and open things up in the passing game for Jurkovec.
