Falls short of 1,000-yard season
Laird was limited to 29 yards on seven carries and caught his lone target for minus-3 yards Wednesday in California's 10-7 overtime loss to TCU in the Cheez-It Bowl.
ANALYSIS
Laird wasn't on the field for much of the second half, suggesting he may have picked up an injury earlier in the contest. California didn't release any reports offering much clarity on the matter, so the assumption is that anything that might have limited Laird won't impact his preparation for the 2019 NFL Draft. The senior accumulated 2,088 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns over his last two seasons in Berkeley.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Laird was an unknown with 11 total carries entering 2017 season before taking off as the centerpiece of California's backfield.. While he doesn't possess the top end speed to run away from cornerbacks, Laird proved during his junior campaign to possess the shiftiness, burst, and power to serve as an effective runner for the Bears, averaging 5.9 yards per attempt and finding paydirt eight times. Laird's biggest asset, perhaps, is his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. The six-foot, 200-pound tailback nabbed 45 passes last season and should be a reliable pair of hands for quarterback Ross Bowers again in 2018.
