Finds end zone twice in win
Adaway compiled 14 carries for 42 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 50-7 victory over Akron.
ANALYSIS
Given the injury to Raheim Sanders (foot), Adaway found himself with an expanded role during this contest, finishing with a season-high 14 carries while also find the end zone for the time this year. The senior running back scored on a 2-yard during the first quarter and another 2-yard plunge in the third quarter with the game in hand. Should Sanders be required to sit out, expect the 6-foot ball-carrier to another healthy workload.

Three different running backs got over 100 carries for the Mean Green in 2022, and all three of them are back for this season. One of those was Adaway, who rushed for 583 yards and five touchdowns on 118 carries. However, there is an asterisk on that, as he got hurt against Western Kentucky after only seven carries and then missed the final five games of the season. There are a couple reasons to be concerned about Adaway. There’s his health, of course. Then, there is the competition aspect. Additionally, Eric Morris is the new head coach. It’s not just about which back he prefers. Morris comes from the Mike Leach school of offense, which is obviously heavy on the passes. This has effectively nixed the tight end conceptually at North Texas, but it also means we probably won’t see three backs, and maybe not even two backs, get over 100 carries this year.
