Gordon's 2023 season was spectacular, posting a nation-leading 1,732 rushing yards and 21 rushing scores, earning him the Doak Walker Award for the best running back in the country. It wasn't all volume either; Gordon averaged an impressive 6.1 yards per carry on 285 attempts. He also became the first Cowboys' runner to accumulate both 100-yard rushing and receiving in a game since 1989. It's worth noting that he did have some legal troubles in the offseason, but it appears that won't cause him to miss any games during the 2024 season. If Gordon can come close to matching his 2023 production, he's certainly in the mix to be the first Cowboy since Barry Sanders to win the Heisman, and he'll ultimately will flip fantasy seasons for those who roster him. Declares for the NFL Draft
Gordon has announced his decision to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, Brian Brinkley of NBC News reports.

Gordon will seek out an opportunity at the professional level following a prolific career with Oklahoma State, highlighted by a dominant 2023-24 season. During his time with the Cowboys the 6-foot-2 225lbs back totaled 537 carries for 2,920 rushing yards (5.44 YPC) and 36 touchdowns on the ground, along with 80 receptions for 585 receiving yards and four touchdowns through the air (39 games). Gordon's 2023-24 season will be one for the ages with the sophomore running back at the time posting 2,062 total yards and 22 touchdowns on 324 touches. Gordon, a running back that at one point was considered a lock to get selected in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft, will look to prove he's still got elite level physical traits through the combine following a somewhat disappointing 2024-25 campaign.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
With Dominic Richardson transferring to Baylor, Gordon will be the featured back for the Cowboys. Considering Oklahoma State will also roll out a new quarterback in Michigan transfer Alan Bowman, it’s realistic to think they will lean heavily on Gordon, at least early in the season. The true freshman had his best game in the regular season finale with 136 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries against West Virginia. Overall, it was a successful season for the youngster as he averaged 5.0 yards per carry on 62 carries. Other candidates for snaps at running back include Jaden Nixon and Michigan State transfer Elijah Collins.
