Finds end zone twice
November 19, 2017
Wilson rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries Saturday in the loss to Oregon.
ANALYSIS
Wilson gave the Wildcats a major boost by scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to beat a 48-point performance by the Ducks. He averaged a modest 4.3 yards per carry on the day. Wilson has shown that he can produce over the course of this season, and will get one final opportunity to do so in the season finale against Arizona State -- he should see a similar workload against the Sun Devils.

2014
Wilson was limited to just five games as a junior in 2016, which allowed some of Arizona’s lesser-known backfield commodities, like J.J. Taylor and Zach Green, to make their marks. Still, Wilson enters his senior season atop the Arizona depth chart in an offense that can’t be any worse than it was in 2016. A healthy Wilson averaged 5.82 YPC last season and ran for 1,375 yards as a true freshman, showing that he can be extremely effective when he’s right. It’s tough to bank on a player with Wilson’s injury history making it through the season unscathed, but even 10 healthy games out of the senior back should make him a viable fantasy option.
Wilson (5-10, 215) was a top-5 consideration at running back heading into last year, but injuries all but wrecked his season. A nagging knee ailment limited Wilson to eight games in 2015, capping his numbers at 736 rushing yards (5.5 YPC) and eight touchdowns. Wilson ran for 1,375 yards (5.8 YPC) and 16 touchdowns as a true freshman the year before, so a bounce-back campaign is highly likely. Coach Rich Rodriguez's uptempo, ground-based spread is built for runners with Wilson's exact skill set, and bad luck is probably the only thing that can slow him.
A top running back recruit last year, Wilson entered Week 1 as the backup to senior Terris Jones-Grigsby. By Week 2, though, the Arizona backfield was his. Wilson finished with 1,375 yards (5.8 YPC) and 16 touchdowns on 236 carries -- not bad for a guy who began the season on the bench. Wilson, 5-10, 199, could see his workload increase with Jones-Grigsby graduated, and the Arizona offense should remain favorable. Quarterback Anu Solomon is back, and the Wildcats have various playmaking receivers who can get Wilson to the red zone regularly.
Wilson, an impressive 2014 freshman recruit, has a real chance to emerge as Arizona's top runner in 2014. He's expected to primarily compete with Terris Jones-Grigsby, a former walk-on but also the brother of former Arizona star Nic Grigsby. Wilson shows impressive speed and cutting ability on tape.
