Heading to the NFL
February 5, 2023
Barbee announced he is declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Barbee will head to the NFL after spending three seasons as one of Texas State's primary pass catchers. While he did see a dip in production during the 2022 campaign, this was largely due to his inability to play in the final four games with an undisclosed injury. Barbee finishes his Texas State career 101 receptions for 1,403 yards and 16 touchdowns, and he spent the first year of his collegiate career with Iowa Western Community College.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Barbee is liable to see a jump in production this season simply due to an improved quarterback situation in San Marcos. Last season, Brady McBride and Tyler Vitt split time at the position, with neither achieving elite numbers. As a result, head coach Jake Spavital tapped into the transfer portal and landed Layne Hatcher from conference rivals Arkansas State. With McBride now backing up Chase Brice at Appalachian State and Vitt lost to graduation, Hatcher figures to duel it out with NC State transfer Ty Evans for the starting gig. All of this is to say that Barbee will be better served this season, and that while he’ll still see his production eaten into by Javen Banks, he should be in for a boost in targets and yardage.
