Moving on to NFL
Nichols declared for the 2023 NFL Draft on Monday, Tony Paul of The Detroit News reports.
ANALYSIS
Following his four-year tenure with Central Michigan, Nichols now enters the upcoming draft with 3,636 total yards and 29 total touchdowns on his resume. In 2021, the 222-pound running back led the FBS in rushing yards (1,848), yards per game (142.2) and carries (341). He missed three contests due to undisclosed injuries during his final collegiate season, but Nichols has shown his ability to handle an absurd workload and still retain an effective YPC average.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
The reigning fantasy RB1 is set to defend his crown but it will be tough to replicate. He took on an FBS-leading 341 carries and added 40 receptions on top of that to total 2,186 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns. His volume was directly linked to Kobe Lewis’ absence, though, as Lewis missed the year with an ACL injury and is set to return. Though Nichols should enter the season as the unquestioned starter, expecting another 300+ carries when Lewis is available seems like a lot to ask. Nichols is still a fantasy RB1, but 2021 will likely stand as his high point.
