Undergoes surgery, season likely over
Cager had ankle surgery Friday and while he's expected to make a full recovery, coach Kirby Smart considers him doubtful for a bowl game, Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Cager finally was recovered from a shoulder injury, but he picked up an ankle issue during Wednesday's practice. The senior wideout hasn't been ruled out for the season, but it sounds like his recovery for a possible college football playoff birth is unlikely. George Pickens (suspension) will miss the first half of the SEC Championship as well, so Dominick Blaylock and Demetris Robertson are expected to lead the team's wideout corps until Pickens returns.

Cager is an experienced wideout who comes to the Bulldogs as a graduate transfer. With Georgia's top five leaders in receiving yardage from a season ago gone, Cager has an opportunity to step right in and start. Cager is a huge target at 6-foot-5, and hauled in six touchdowns as a member of the Miami Hurricanes in 2018. Though Cager can be plagued by drops at times, he averaged 17.8 yards per catch last year en route to career highs across the board.
