2022 Fantasy Outlook
Thornton enters 2022 as the unquestioned WR1 in Harrisonburg, as he put up 13 touchdowns and 1,097 yards last season. As is the question with every Dukes player, whether these numbers translate into Sun Belt play will determine how viable Thornton (and his teammates) will be for fantasy purposes. Also not helping Thornton’s case is the departure of stellar quarterback Cole Johnson. In his stead will either be Colorado State transfer Todd Centeio or 2021 backup Bill Atkins. Unless one of them can throw for 41 touchdowns against just four picks (as Johnson did last year), then expect some regression. Still, Thornton’s experience (this will be his fifth season of college ball) and pedigree warrant a look from prospective fantasy managers.
