Set to enter 2018 NFL Draft
Pettway has opted to leave Auburn and enter his name into the 2018 NFL Draft, Justin Ferguson of SECcountry.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pettway joins fellow running back Kerryon Johnson in heading to the draft, so the Tigers are set to be without two of their top backs from the 2017 campaign. While Johnson is considered a lock to be selected at some point in the draft, Pettway isn't necessarily guaranteed a selection. He played in just five games this season because of injuries and a one-game suspension to start the year, rushing 76 times for 305 yards and six touchdowns. That said, he did have a much more productive season in 2016 as a sophomore, when he rushed 209 times for 1,224 yards and seven touchdowns across nine games. Either way, Pettway will attempt his luck and has officially completed his collegiate career.

2017 Fantasy Outlook
"Fast Physical" might not be Auburn's main mantra anymore, but Pettway certainly still embodies it. Checking in at 6-0, 235, Pettway checks the box for "physical," and his nine runs of 20+ yards in just nine games shows that he can be a problem down the field once he builds momentum. His 20.9 carries per game last year showed that he is coach Gus Malzahn's top backfield choice in an offense that runs it about as much as a team possibly can without being considered triple-option. While Pettway will have to face vaunted defenses on a weekly basis playing in the SEC West, he showed that he has the talent and running style to be a problem for even the stingiest opponents.
