2024 Fantasy Outlook
There was no outlook written for James Franklin in 2024. Check out the latest news below for more on his current fantasy value.
January 4, 2014
Franklin completed just 15-of-40 passes for 174 yards and an interception against Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. He also rushed 16 times for 36 yards.
ANALYSIS
Franklin had a bounce back senior season, though did not perform well in the bowl victory. He was replaced by backup Maty Mauk for two series, and Mauk tossed a touchdown pass on one of them. Mauk is an excellent fantasy option next season now that Franklin has played his last game for the Tigers.

2011
What a difference a year, and a new conference, made for Franklin. As a first year starter in 2011, Franklin tossed for 2,865 yards, ran for 981 yards and a combined 36 scores. Injuries and SEC defenses brought Franklin back to reality, as he managed just 1,684 total yards and 10 touchdowns. So who is the real James Franklin? The truth is no one knows, and it’s likely somewhere in the middle
Franklin's numbers could drop in his second season as the Tiger starting quarterback. He has a talented group of receivers in T.J. Moe, Marcus Lucas and Dorial Green-Beckham, but Missouri's transfer to the SEC means that Franklin will see much tougher defenses than he did in the Big-12. Still, not all of Franklin's opponents will be of high SEC quality. Between his rushing ability (981 yards, 15 touchdowns in 2011) and talented receivers, Franklin should post nice numbers against teams like Southeastern Louisiana, Arizona State, UCF, Kentucky, Tennessee, Syracuse and Texas A&M. A spring shoulder injury required surgery, so monitor Franklin's comeback heading into the season.
Franklin doesn’t figure to be razor-sharp as a passer, but he brings a lot of athleticism to the position and should be a good running threat in Missouri’s spread offense. The Missouri offense threw the ball 37.7 times per game last year, so Franklin will get plenty of chances to make plays this year. After running for 116 yards and two scores in very limited time last year, he should prove to be an effective dual threat.
