Elbow
August 22, 2014
Heaps returned to morning and afternoon practices on Wednesday, this after missing a scrimmage held the by Miami Monday due to a sore elbow, the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Heaps told reporters the injury to his elbow was not "a recurring issue" and never happened when he was playing for Kansas or Brigham Young, but will nevertheless be one he'll continue to rehab in the immediate future. He also said he had every intention of playing in Monday's scrimmage but was stopped by coaches. "The competitor in me wanted to be out with my teammates and battle with them and enjoy that," Heaps explained. "Not to be able to do that was tough. At the end of the day, it's about in the long run getting ready for Game 1." Heaps remains in a heated battle with 18-year-old Brad Kaaya for Miami's starting quarterback role.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2013
2010
Kansas had the eighth-worst passing offense in the country during last season’s 1-11 campaign, averaging just 148.7 yards per game. Both Dayne Crist and Michael Cummings experienced their fair share of struggles, but neither will be under center this year for the Jayhawks. Jake Heaps, a transfer from BYU, will be Charlie Weis’ starter entering the fall. The junior was impressive in the team’s spring game, throwing for 257 yards on 20-for-28 passing with four touchdowns. He’s a former blue chip recruit with plenty of experience, as he started for much of his two seasons at BYU prior to transferring.
Heaps is the No.1 quarterback recruit from 2010, so you know BYU would like see him win its quarterback competition with Riley Nelson. Look for Nelson to start the season, but for Heaps to take over when Nelson turns it over a few times. Feel free to gamble a pick on him in MWC-only leagues, but just take note of him otherwise.
