Fills in nicely as lead back
Gardner rushed 25 times for 133 yards in Thursday's 17-7 victory over South Florida.
ANALYSIS
Gardner stepped into the workhorse role with Re'Mahn Davis out due to an undisclosed injury, and Gardner responded with his first 100-yard game of the year on a season-high 25 carries. How long Davis is expected to be sidelined is currently unknown, making Gardner's value for next week against Tulane a mystery until it's known how much of the load he'll be expected to bear.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Gardner didn't get the chance for many touches last season out of Temple's backfield with Ryquell Armstead ahead of him, but it didn't matter much because he didn't do anything with the chances he had. In two mid-season starts when Armstead was sidelined, Gardner averaged only 54.0 yards per game and failed to find the end zone against Navy and Cincinnati. His touches will see a jump as the top back in a run-heavy offense, but don't expect the Owls' running game to repeat as the power they were last season.
