Emmett Morehead

Emmett Morehead enters 2023 as the Eagles clear QB1 after starting four games in 2022 for the injured, and now transferred, Phil Jurkovec. He showed decently in that limited exposure, completing 61.1 percent of his throws while posting nine touchdowns, but was also picked off five times and lost four fumbles playing behind a porous offensive line. While there’s optimism his protection can improve, the biggest hurdle Morehead will need to clear is a lack of receiving explosiveness. Zay Flowers is off to the NFL, and the Eagles are asking UCF transfer Ryan O’Keefe to fill that void. O’Keefe is a versatile, volume based receiver that has solid YAC production. If the Eagles again struggle to run the ball (2.1 ypc in 2022), Morehead could carve out some fantasy value by being asked to throw 40+ times per game. Morehead appears to offer next to nothing with his legs, so there won’t be anything to fall back upon there, and with questions as to how explosive the Eagles offense can be, you’ll likely be able to find better options for quarterback depth.
