Withdraws from portal
December 13, 2024
Williams will withdraw from the transfer portal, Pete Nakos of On3.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams announced his intention to enter the portal mid-season, but he's apparently been convinced to return to Bloomington. The wideout played in three games this fall, so he can write 2024 off as a redshirt season. He'll look to be more involved in the Hoosiers' passing attack in year two of the Curt Cignetti era.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
After a promising freshman season in 2020 where Williams finished fifth on the team in both receptions and yards, Williams had a rocky 2021 where he battled injuries for most of the year. Williams appeared in just six games last year as a sophomore and managed to haul in just nine passes. Williams missed spring practice as he underwent knee surgery in hopes to clean up some recurring injuries and get back to being healthy. The talented former four-star recruit should be a full go for the start of the season and is slated to open up as the team’s starting slot receiver.
Williams is one of many big, talented Tiger receivers vying to replace the departed production of Cornell Powell and Amari Rogers. Opportunity and chemistry with new quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei will be paramount if Williams is to be a fantasy asset however. Justyn Ross remains the Tigers best option, but he missed all of 2020 with a neck injury. Joseph Ngata and Frank Ladson have both been in the program longer, but have battled their own injuries and inconsistency. All four of these options go 6-foot-3 or bigger, so it’s hard to envision they’ll all be on the field at once. Williams flashed late last season, scoring twice in the final three games while putting up 125 of his 306 total yards in the final two games against Notre Dame and Ohio State. There skill is here for a breakout, making him worth a flier late, but there’s certainly no guarantee Williams is one of the Tigers top two receivers.
