January 2, 2013
Manuel completed 26-of-38 passes for 291 yards and a touchdownd, and ran six times for 26 yards and a score in Tuesday's Orange Bowl against Northern Illinois.
ANALYSIS
It marked the first time Manuel had topped 200 yards in the last four games. He departs FSU with a 4-0 bowl record, but is probably best described as a "good" quarterback. Clint Trickett, Jacob Coker and Jameis Winston will battle to replace Manuel.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2012

2010
Manuel has bloomed into a very good quarterback for Florida State and heads into 2012 as a player who should be owned in most or all leagues. His upside is a bit limited by Florida State's run-heavy offense, but his excellent passing efficiency (8.6 YPA in 2011) and extremely deep and talented receivers help him make up for the limitation. His standout running abilities (156 yards and four touchdowns last year) certainly help, too. Manuel is an ideal fantasy backup in deeper leagues.
Manuel might be a bit reckless, but he brings lots of playmaking ability for Florida State. Although his opportunities will likely be limited by the generally conservative nature of the Seminoles offense, Manuel’s average of nine yards per pass from last year indicates that he’ll make the most of it. His fantasy production will also get a nice boost from his running ability—he totaled 80 yards and a touchdown on the ground in his two starts last year.
Manuel is a five-star recruit from two years ago who is undoubtedly the next FSU starter after Ponder. Ponder showed durability issues in 2009, so Manuel could find himself on the field again in 2010. He struggled in 2009, throwing six interceptions and just two touchdowns, but the hope is he'll have a better idea of what he's doing with some experience at the college level. He's an intriguing option if Ponder gets hurt in 2010.
