ANALYSIS
Lacy is our current favorite to be the first running back drafted. The Alabama star isn't as good as his recent Jamal Lewis comparisons would lead one to assume, but he should measure in around 5-foot-11 and at least 215 pounds, and he has playmaking athleticism to go along with that feature back frame. Lacy has excellent foot quickness that grants him elusiveness in traffic, and he has good enough long speed to break away once he creates separation. He's not anywhere near Trent Richardson's level as a prospect, but we think he's better than what Mark Ingram was. Lacy finished his 2012 season with 1,322 yards (6.5 YPC) and 17 touchdowns as a runner while adding 22 catches for 189 yards and two more scores. His departure for Alabama leaves T.J. Yeldon and Jalston Fowler (knee) as two breakout candidates for 2013.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2012
2011
Lacy has demonstrated absurd upside to this point in his Alabama career, totaling 1,080 yards and 13 touchdowns on just 151 carries – an average of 7.2 yards per carry and a touchdown roughly every 12 carries. The departure of Trent Richardson (283 carries in 2011) should result in a huge surge in production for Lacy, who at his current rate would finish with 2,024 yards and 24 touchdowns with Richardson's 283 carries. The presence of the talented Jalston Fowler will keep Lacy from getting that many carries, however, so his owners might need to settle for something in the 1,300-yard, 14-touchdown range.
With Mark Ingram gone, Lacy figures to step in as Alabama's top backup to Trent Richardson. That means Lacy should get a good amount of work during blowouts, and he could even get a start or two to himself if Richardson keeps having the injury troubles he did a year ago. Even with Ingram and Richardson around last year, Lacy still ran for 406 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 7.3 yards per carry. Lacy is definitely worth drafting in SEC-only leagues, but otherwise he's probably a fringe option in most scenarios.
