January 4, 2016
Washington will enter the 2016 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Washington's early declaration will certainly raise some eyebrows after he ran for just 282 yards and four touchdowns in 2015, but the move makes sense. There's reason to believe Washington will burn up the Combine if invited, as the Washington program published workout numbers prior to each of the last two years that would rank Washington at the top of any given draft class. Moreover, when Washington was healthy enough to play, his numbers were consistently explosive, showing the ability to make big plays both as a runner and receiver. Shrewd owners in dynasty leagues should monitor Washington closely, though the hype might pick up if he dominates pre-draft testing as expected. Even without much publicity surrounding him, Washington could push for the third or fourth round. His athletic profile and skill set might bear some resemblance to those of David Johnson and Latavius Murray -- just try to keep the expectations reasonable.

2014 Fantasy Outlook
At 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, Washington is a bruising runner but still possesses some of the best athleticism on the Washington roster, making him look like a future standout workhorse runner for the Huskies after running for 332 yards (7.1 YPC) and four touchdowns in 2013. It's unclear how distant that future might be, however, because he has some competition for carries in the meantime. Former high-ranking recruit and all around promising player Deontae Cooper is fighting for carries after enduring three ACL tears earlier in his Washington career, so he might push Washington to the margins again in 2014. It's possible that both could be big-time producers at the same time, as well, on the other hand.
