O'Reilly (knee) entered the NCAA's transfer portal Jan. 27, 247Sports.com reports. The running back is no longer listed on Connecticut's official 2020 roster and is expected to head to another school.
ANALYSIS
O'Reilly is one of more than 20 Huskies players who have entered the transfer portal since Connecticut wrapped up a 2-10 campaign in 2019. As a redshirt senior last season, O'Reilly carried five times for 17 yards before being shut down in early November, when he required another surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, an injury he first suffered in the 2018 offseason. O'Reilly could have a tough time making it back to full strength once teams begin training camp in August, but he apparently intends to use a sixth year of eligibility. Expect the NCAA to grant him a medical hardship waiver after he missed the entire 2018 season due to the first of his two ACL tears.
