Declares for draft
RBNo Current School
January 10, 2018
Guice declared for the 2018 NFL Draft on Wednesday, Ross Dellenger of The Baton Rouge Advocate reports.
ANALYSIS
It isn't all too surprising to see Guice forego his final season of eligibility, as he's widely considered to be the No. 2 back in the upcoming draft, behind Penn State's Saquon Barkley. His 6.53 yards per carry over his three-year career at LSU ranks best in the school's history, breaking the record set by his predecessor, Leonard Fournette. Guice battled a knee issue throughout his junior season but still rushed for 1,251 yards and 11 touchdowns on 237 carries (5.28 yards per carry).

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
LSU's backfield finally belongs to Guice after Leonard Fournette's departure to the NFL, and that's a scary thought for SEC defenses. When Guice carried the load in Fournette's absence last year, he absolutely torched opposing defenses – most notably a 37-carry, 285-yard performance at Texas A&M. He finished the year averaging 7.6 yards per carry on 183 totes. Even in a new offense that'll be more balanced, Guice will still be the focal point for the Tigers. Guice's off-the-charts talent and versatility make him, at worst, a top-three fantasy back this season.
Leonard Fournette draws the most attention out of the LSU backfield, but LSU has a best-kept secret that’s not much of a secret anymore in Guice. The rising sophomore shined in limited action behind Fournette, averaging a staggering 8.5 yards per carry to lead all running backs with at least 50 carries. Guice’s measurements (5-11, 222) might suggest he’s more of a between-the-tackles pile-pusher, but he also possesses the speed, quickness, and agility of a smaller third down back. All of those traits are evident with Guice, which makes him such a complete back and a home run threat. Again, Fournette will get the bulk of the work out of the backfield this season, but Guice should push for triple-digit carries and with that he’ll be a threat to get within striking distance of 1,000 yards as the second back in the LSU offense.
