Davion Ervin-Poindexter

Ervin-Poindexter transferred in from Indiana looking for a bigger role, and he got it. However, in Western Kentucky’s pass-first, pass-second offense, he didn’t exactly do a ton. He ran 116 times for 525 yards and three touchdowns, but that led the Hilltoppers on the ground. Look, Austin Reed threw the ball 603 times in 2023. Ervin-Poindexter had more games with single-digit carries than double-digit carries, and he only had 15 catches for 84 yards. This is not an offense that makes much use of running backs. The number-two and number-three backs are both gone, which in theory could mean more carries for the former Hoosier. Or maybe they just saw the writing on the wall. Ervin-Poindexter will be the lead back for the Hilltoppers. That just may not mean much for him, or for fantasy-minded folks out there. He’s there because sometimes you need to hand the ball to somebody.
