David Blough

Blough began the year behind junior Austin Appleby, but persistent struggles from Appleby resulted in head coach Darrell Hazell changing horses in late September. Aside from a strong (29-39, 340, 2,1) outing against Bowling Green, Blough struggled to figure out Big 10 defenses. He completed just 55.7 percent of his passes in conference games for 1,223 yards, eight scores, and seven picks. On the bright side, Blough can move a decent bit, even if his total rushing yardage output doesn’t reflect it due to yardage subtracted by sacks. Furthermore, he averaged 35.1 passing attempts per game in conference play last season, and given that Purdue will likely be trailing a lot of the time against Big 10 competition, we could see some gaudy passing numbers purely thanks to volume.
