Entering draft
October 19, 2020
Coxie confirmed Monday via his personal Twitter account that he has left the Memphis program with the intention of preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Coxie's announcement comes after news surfaced shortly before Saturday's 50-49 win over Central Florida that he wouldn't suit up in the contest. Despite the offense's success Week 7, Coxie's departure is still a huge loss for the Tigers, as the wideout was coming off back-to-back 1,000-plus-yard seasons. Calvin Austin and Tahj Washington should serve as the Tigers' top options in the passing game the rest of the way.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2020
2019
2018
The Tigers could have been forgiven for expecting Coxie to move on to the NFL after 2019. After all, it was his second year in a row with over 70 catches and 1,000 yards, and he added nine receiving touchdowns to boot. Instead, Coxie decided to stick around. Yes, Mike Norvell has moved on, but the Tigers decided to promote from within to maintain continuity. Speaking of continuity, Brady White is back as the starting quarterback once again. What’s there to stop Coxie from another season of over 70 receptions and a 1,000 yards in his senior campaign? Especially since Antonio Gibson did indeed move on to the NFL?
Coxie was superbly productive in 2018, his redshirt sophomore season and first season as a starter for Memphis. His 72 receptions for 1,174 yards and seven touchdowns last year might undersell his effectiveness a bit, as he averaged 9.9 yards per target in an offense that averaged 8.2 yards per pass attempt. He should see his share of offensive production increase in 2019 as Memphis attempts to pick up the slack left with the departures of running backs Darrell Henderson and Tony Pollard, who combined for 3,214 yards and 34 touchdowns from scrimmage last year.
The Tiger offense is one to target even if there's some uncertainty at the quarterback position. There's no way Coxie, a former LSU commit, immediately steps in and becomes Anthony Miller 2.0 with what Miller did in 2017. However, Coxie (6-3, 201) is the best true receiver on the roster while players like Tony Pollard are more hybrid offensive weapons. Coxie did well when given a shot last year, reeling in 21 of 28 targets for 323 yards and three scores. As long as Brady White or David Moore don't crater the offense, Coxie will be a legit fantasy receiver.
