Corey Robinson

Robinson enters his junior year trying to build on a solid sophomore season as Troy's starting quarterback. After starting every game as a freshman, Robinson put up similar numbers in his second year, throwing for 3,411 yards and 21 touchdowns on 508 attempts. He won't give very much production on the ground, but Troy likes to throw. Robinson averaged a bloated 42.3 passing attempts per game last season and should be around that number once again this year. As long as he keeps throwing, those numbers should be there, giving Robinson a high floor despite his modest ceiling.

Robinson did very well in his redshirt freshman season at Troy, concluding the season with 3,707 yards and 28 touchdowns through the air in 13 games. He might not have it as easy in 2011, however, as star wideout Jerrel Jernigan is no longer around, and with him goes 4,020 career yards from scrimmage. Still, even if Robinson’s numbers drop off a bit in 2011, he should still be a good QB2 in all-120 leagues, as the Sun Belt isn’t known for its defenses.

Robinson didn't have the arm strength or size to interest any bigger schools, but history says he's a gamer who will find a way to leave his mark at Troy. Now, playing in the Sun Belt isn't even close to the same as playing high school football, but Robinson set the national record by throwing for 90 touchdowns as a senior in high school (!). He threw only four interceptions that year, by the way. Robinson didn't get many offers, however, so he was obviously a product of a system to some extent, but that's still nothing less than mindblowing. Jamie Hampton is the favorite to start this year for Troy, but watch for Robinson to get on the field somehow. It certainly would be neat if he could pick up where he left off in high school.
