Exploring options elsewhere
Alexander announced Dec. 28 via a post on his personal Twitter account that he would leave the Florida International program and play his final season of college eligibility elsewhere in 2019 as a graduate transfer.
ANALYSIS
Alexander took reps for FIU in nine games during his junior season, completing 36 of 55 attempts for 427 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding 181 yards and two scores on 25 carries. With James Morgan (triceps) sidelined for the Golden Panthers' 35-32 win over Toledo in the Bahamas Bowl on Dec. 21, Alexander started and saw his most extensive snaps of the season. Morgan will be back to handle starting duties for his senior season in 2019, so Alexander will presumably explore other schools to see if he can find an easier path to playing time.
