Skipping Orange Bowl
Surratt announced Monday that he won't play Jan. 2 in North Carolina's Orange Bowl game against Texas A&M while he begins preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft, C.L. Brown of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
In addition to Surratt -- the heart of the team's defense -- North Carolina will be without star wideout Dyami Brown and tailback Michael Carter, both of whom will also skip the bowl game to begin draft preparations. After beginning his time with the Tar Heels as a quarterback, Surratt converted to linebacker in 2019 and immediately emerged as a star on the other side of the ball. Over his two seasons at linebacker, the redshirt senior totaled 206 tackles, 12 sacks, six pass breakups and two interceptions over 24 games.
