Johnson played in 16 games over his two active seasons at South Alabama, completing 50 percent of his passes for 1,020 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He also added 243 rushing yards and four touchdowns. After starting the first eight games of 2019 before losing the starting quarterback job to Desmond Trotter, Johnson determined it was in his best interest to explore his options elsewhere. Johnson will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next school, though he would have to sit out the 2020 season if he sticks around in the FBS ranks.
